Who We Are

The Gender and Faith Network (GFN) is the localised chapter of the Side-by-Side Faith Movement for Gender Justice. The GFN is a network that brings different actors (organizations, technical partners and individuals) within the faith movement to work for gender justice in Zimbabwe.

Who Should Join?

Gender and Faith Network (GFN) which also serves as the ACT Alliance Zimbabwe Gender Community of Practice membership shall comprise the following categories:

Technical Partner Organisations

The technical partner organizations are those members which are part of the Side by side global network, examples of such members are Christian Aid, Trocaire, Tearfund, Cafod e.t.c which are implementing and non-implementing Non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

Faith Based and/or Gender Programming Organisations

1).Faith based organizations are defined as NGOs/Organisations an organization whose values are based on faith and/or beliefs.They have a mission based on social values of a particular faith and often draw their activists from a specific faith group. Examples are ELCZ and others.

Faith based organizations may  have one or more of the following characteristics: “Formal affiliation with a religious body; a mission statement or objectives with explicit reference to named religious values; financial support from religious sources and/or a   governance structure where selection of board members  is mainly faith based.

2). Implementing Organizations or Gender programming organization.

These organisations are implementing partners to technical members and have Gender-responsive interventions, focusing on the unique needs of females, and empowering girls and women, valuing their perspectives, respecting their experiences, understanding developmental differences between women and men. Examples of such are WLSA, Padare and others.
